3 Tools You Need as a New Blogger

As someone who has started their first blog this year (yay!🎉), I know how confusing the blogging world can be, especially in the beginning. So this is why I compiled this short list of blogging tools that I use to make my life as a new blogger a little bit easier. Maybe there is also something for you? Let’s check it out!

  1. Canva

You have probably already figured out that most of your blog traffic will come from Pinterest. So how do you catch people's attention on Pinterest? Correct. With pretty and colorful pins (and the right keywords, as I already explained in my blog post about reaching 10.000 impressions on Pinterest in a month). Canva is a great way to easily create beautiful pins that will surely catch attention!

And the best thing is that you can use it for free! Only if you want to have all the features that Canva offers, you have to pay for a subscription.

So go check it out!

2. Tailwind

It doesn’t matter if you started your blog to earn money with it or if you wanted to use it as a creative outlet; we all want other people to read what we are so passionate about. And while Pinterest can be an absolutely incredible source for blog traffic, it can also take some time until you manage to establish an audience that regularly clicks on your pins to read your blog posts. This is where Tailwind can help.

I have heard a lot about Tailwind from bloggers I followed long before I started my own blog, and I now understand why it was always such a big topic. With this tool, you can schedule your new pins, find content from other creators in your niche and schedule it to get re-pinned to your Pinterest boards, and (probably the most exciting feature) you can join communities.

There are a lot of different communities for all the niches you can possibly imagine, so there will surely be one that fits your content!

As a member of a community, you can add your content, and other creators can then re-pin it to their Pinterest boards. In return, you do the same; just pick a post that you like and schedule it to get re-pinned to your own boards as well. That way, you can share your audience with other bloggers; they provide you with the best the best possible reach, and you do the same for them.

It makes sense, right? If you are in the same niche, your audience will most likely also be interested in other creators’s content, and their audience will probably be interested in yours.

And as you can see from the numbers, it really does work:

Since I’ve joined Tailwind, I was able to receive an estimated reach of nearly 50.000! 50k people that I maybe otherwise would have never reached—or a lot later, at least!

In return, I gave other creators an additional reach of a little over 14,000 since I joined.

And the best thing is: you can use Tailwind for free! You will be a little limited (such as you can only join one community and only add a specific number of posts, etc.), but it is great to start out and see if it’s something for you! If you want to have unlimited features, you can pay for a subscription (monthly or annual subscription).

3. Skillshare

I’m sure you have already heard about Skillshare at some point, and I’m here to tell you that it’s also great for bloggers! There are a lot of classes about different topics all around blogging, such as promoting your blog, for example. I found out about a few interesting ways to promote my blog through classes others provided on Skillshare. You can try it out for free for 7 days and then pay for a subscription if you want to use it in the future.

I really like it! It’s a great resource if you want to learn something new in general, so you can also look at other topics that interest you while you’re researching topics for your blog.

I hope these three tools will help you in your blogging journey; they surely helped me! Browse through my Benable list for bloggers to learn about more tools I can recommend, and follow me on Pinterest if you are interested in creative writing! Also, check out my other blog posts about blogging!
